BYS NEWS

After a broad regional search, The BYS Board of Directors happily announced that our own Courtney Oliver has been named the new Executive Director of Bainbridge Youth Services.
A thoughtful and strategic leader, Courtney most recently served as the Director of Youth Services at BYS. She started at BYS in 2016 as a counselor and has since held a variety of leadership roles within the organization. With more than 15 years as a licensed mental health counselor working in a large variety of nonprofit agencies and positions, Courtney brings a wealth of experience working with youth as well as management experience to this new role.
“Courtney has both the head and the heart to lead Bainbridge Youth Services into the future. She brings a wealth of knowledge about the struggles young people face and what allows them to thrive. She is just what BYS needs right now in order to continue to be effective and expand our impact.” says Tina Gilbert, BYS board president.
Cezanne Allen announced in November that she would be stepping down for personal reasons. She will be working closely on the transition with Courtney over the next several weeks.
Covid-19 Update:
During the upcoming transition from distance learning to hybrid in-school learning, BYS will keep the virtual format of our programs a constant for the time being, including our virtual counseling. While students can continue to meet with a counselor from their own home, they can also request to conduct their virtual sessions from a private BYS counseling room. Students can inquire about this in their initial appointment request or through their counselor.
BYS LISTENS
Bainbridge Youth Services offers FREE and CONFIDENTIAL professional mental health counseling and facilitates a thriving peer tutoring program. When students step into BYS, we listen and we learn from them. We assure them that they are not alone in their struggles. We know they can navigate any obstacle – with a little help.
We believe hope equals resilience.
In the last several years, we’ve experienced a five-fold uptick in demand as levels of youth stress, anxiety and depression have increased. BYS strives to help students meet the challenges they face by equipping them with life skills to learn from the past, live in the present, and hope for the future.
Thanks to our generous community, all BYS offerings are free!
BYS gave me an outlet during a dark time in my life. It provided a space where I could talk through life’s struggles, ask questions I couldn’t normally ask, and rationalize the emotions that were weighing me down.
Because of BYS Tutoring, “I’m better at math, my test scores are improving, and I love being able to feel confident in my work!
